He was a stoker on board the HMAS Sydney which went down with all 645 personel on board during World War 2 in 1941 and the site was lost until discovered in 2008 off the coast of Western Australia.. The diary is hand-written of the events of the war after HMAS Sydney left Australia and joined the Mediterranean Fleet at Alexandria Egypt from april 1940 to april 1941. Cyril James Nugent born 25th December, lost ini battle 19th November 1941. The diary reveals the triumphs and tragedies experienced aboard the sydney , The diary is hand-written and we hold the copy of the diary.

  Magazine titled Victorian Railways Newsletter, January 1961 Pages relevant to Warragul 4,5,6, Precis: As of 1961 the suburban electric train ran between Flinders Street to Dandenong. In 1961 Warragul to Traralgon was all electric but they still used the D3680 steam locomotive between Melbourne to Traralgon. The Warragul Electrical Depot was a modern partly air-conditioned two-storey building and housed the Power Operation Room, the Supervisory Equipment Room and the Overhead Depot. - the article gives how these area operated. 16 trains ran weekly between Melbourne and Warragul. There were 80 - 90 good trains includinig those with brown coal and briquettes ran through Warragul Station every week. At Warragul there were 328 railway men employed or based there, so a vital spending powere to the district. Warragul had one of the most spacious refreshment rooms. The Victorian Railways Institute ( VRI ) catered to local interest, for example, Table tennis, badminton, billioards, carpet bowls, plus 2 outdoor tennis courts.
